About Me

My name is Josiah Selednik, and I am a teenager who is passionate about history, science, philosophy, and reason. I am a practicing agnostic and one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and I believe I have valid intellectual reasons for holding those 2 positions.

This blog is, overall, dedicated to the search for truth. Truth is a very valuable thing, and all critical thinkers must do their utmost to fight cognitive bias and to search for it by following the evidence. I believe that if one makes an honest and sincere search for the truth, and does their utmost to not be swayed by cognitive bias and other fallacies, they will find the truth. The reason why I search for truth is summarized well in this quote by philosopher Joshua Rasmussen:

Despite the risks, there is a great reward for facing reality for what it is. That reward is freedom. Freedom to see things for yourself. Freedom to increase your understanding of the real world. Freedom to design your life in accordance with the systems and rules that actually exist. (Rasmussen, Joshua. The Bridge of Reason: Ten Steps to See God. United States, Great Legacy Books, 2018. p.

Here, on this blog, you will find articles about history, biblical studies, science, theology, philosophy of religion, and other subjects that have to do with religion. Keep in mind that I have no expertise in these subjects and I am still trying to figure everything out, so don't take my writings as super authoritative. Also, don't take my statements as representative of Christianity or Jehovah's Witnesses. I welcome criticism, and I am willing to change my views in the face of valid counter-evidence, even if there's some resistance.

Thank you, and I hope you enjoy my blog.
